Doesn't Your Garden Deserve a Touch of Whimsy?

Flea Market Gardening Magazine

I'm very proud to announce one of my garden whimsies is featured in the Summer 2011 issue of Flea Market
Gardening Magazine.

This garden totem was inspired by the beautiful Laura Ashley vase (turned upside down) found at a local thrift store.  I'd had this vase for several months just waiting for the right pieces to design a totem.   I was so happy when I found the sweet teapot shown here.  With the vase and teapot I knew I had my design and this is the finished piece.  Hard to believe this totem was created from other's "trash".  It really does bring me joy to transform unwanted objects into things of beauty.
If you'd like this totem to have a home in your garden, it is available for purchase through The Artful Giraffe Gallery in Saraota, Florida. Click on the pic below to go to their Facebook page.
Flea Market Gardening is a fabulous magazine for gardeners.  If you're looking for decorating inspiration for your garden, this is to place to get it.  You'll be amazed at what you can do with flea market finds. You can view a free, online copy of the magazine by clicking the link below.  Go to page 44 to see my garden totem.

I love the Fiesta Chicken Garden Stake because I've gotten so attached to my chickens, that I have started collecting all things chicken and rooster. So far I have a rooster weather vane, rooster dinner bell, and I won a homemade rooster flag that will soon be joinging the collection... So beautiful and fun to collect! Thanks!

Thanks Cindy. I love the "Fiesta Chicken" with all it's bold colors. Just made me smile when I found it while out "junkin". So glad you like it. Thanks for entering my giveaway. Be sure to check back often as I'm always adding new garden whimsies to my Etsy shop. Good luck!

Mary I enjoyed browsing them. I am going to try my hand with a few things around the house, however I have a few problems. I want to use a small minature statue. Do you ever use anything to seal some of these peices, if maybe you painted it. It seems like some of those pieces are painted, but maybe not. Those are my favorite kind of teapots and you do them so well. Any way If I go ahead and use the statue outside I will have to seal it somehow. If meant to be inside, I will have to design different. Do you have any medium to suggest. Otherwise, I'll just browse till I find my answer. If I use it inside, I'll have to have a wide bottom. I don't see any very narrow rims such as size of pop bottle or small vase with wide pieces on top. Do you paint anything for these? Thanks for the inspiration. You have a fun job for sure. If I had to pick a favorite, for some reason I'd pick the rooster. Thanks for your time. [ I am at sunnyside blog, but I am on facebook and I can just check back here.

Hi Jo, thanks so much for your interest in my garden whimsies. I do have so much fun designing and creating them. I'm so fortunate to have found my passion and have the opportunity to pursue it. My garden whimsies are all made with individual pieces that I find. I do not paint any of the dishes myself. I wish I had that talent! Wish I had the answer to your question. Perhaps someone that works at one of the places where you paint ceramics might be able to help you. I look forward to checking out your blog. Please be sure to look me up on Facebook too if you haven't already done so. It's been a while since I updated my blog so I apologize. My Facebook page is updated daily. Thanks again and please let me know if you have any other questions. Good luck with your project!

So hard to pick a favorite from all you beautiful etsy items, but I would have to chose the "Vintage Heart Shaped Jewelry, Candy or Soap Dish, Hand Painted Made In Italy - As Featured In Valley Homes & Style Magazine" becuase I just love anything that is heart shaped and this is just beautiful!!
