Craquelure is a classic faux finish that gives newly painted surfaces the finely crackled appearance common to many fine antiques. Older furnishings for sale in antique stores often display cracks of varying size in their painted or varnished finish. Thanks.

Painting furniture involves sanding, priming and painting. Having the patience to apply a second coat of paint, will reward you with a better looking, longer lasting finish. Painting wood furniture is very easy to do yourself, just follow the steps below. Thanks.

Thank you for that. You definitely have it right: the issue of being in 'reaction mode' is probably the biggest downside of allowing the immediate competitive environment dictate your next move.

Each house shows a high degree of sophistication and was equipped with an extensive assortment of stone furniture, ranging from cupboards, dressers and beds to shelves, stone seats, and limpet tanks. The stone dresser was regarded as the most important as it symbolically faces the entrance in each house and is therefore the first item seen when entering, perhaps displaying symbolic objects, including decorative artwork such as several Neolithic Carved Stone Balls also found at the site. Thanks.

All wood is not the same. Some like teak are very resistant to decomposition which is why they like to use in on boats. The biggest factor is going to be moisture and exposure to fungus mostly. They have enzymes that can break down the wood. If fungus is present and there is sufficient moisture the wood isn't going to last very long. If it is dry and there is no fungus or bacteria, it will last indefinitely. Thanks a lot.
